How the clocks work
The site uses JavaScript date formatting with IANA time zone names such as Australia/Sydney, Europe/London and America/New_York. This is better than storing cities as fixed UTC offsets because many cities change offsets during daylight saving time.
The displayed time depends on the user's browser, operating system and available time zone data. Most modern browsers handle this well, but very old devices may need updates after government time-zone rule changes.
